Admissions Criteria
At Green Oaks, we aim to offer an exceptional educational experience for individuals with Down syndrome and similar intellectual disabilities.
While we strive to serve as many students as possible, our program is not the right fit for everyone. We work closely with families to ensure that our program is appropriate for the student, and that the student is a good fit for what we offer.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Age:
Students must turn eight years old by January of the current school year to enroll in our school-age program. There is no upper age limit for participation in Green Oaks Adult Living. - Education:
Candidates for Green Oaks Life Prep should have completed their high school education. - Health:
Students must not have significant medical or physical conditions that would interfere with participation. - Toileting:
All students must be fully and independently toilet trained, unless discussed and approved by a Director in advance. - Behavior:
Students must not exhibit significant behavior challenges. Those with behaviors that are harmful or disruptive to the Green Oaks community may not be accepted or may be dismissed if such behaviors arise after enrollment.
Our program is designed with specific goals and supports in place. Students who require major modifications or whose needs fall outside our scope may be referred to other schools or programs better suited to their development.
